About workshops: "During that class I would like to work especially on Solo- and Duet-materials, guided and coached by myself with consideration of my recent research. The class willl start with a physical warm-up and sensitive awareness of the structure of our body, his relation to gravitiy, the given space and the group and then we will continue to play with various forms of physical presence. I offer some expressive skills to be explored by everybody in a short improvised flow helping to open the mind and the body equally to perhaps other physical qualities than those of a conventional dance language. Afterwards i would guide the already existing materials from each participant to a short performance format, especially considering a differenciation both of the physical qualities and the using of the space. We would question also the logics of one's patterns and choreographical vision and play with different versions of the same materials. I am fascinated by possibilities of transforming traditional body-space-relations, by visions that may extend the space inwardly and outwardly and by an expressive and existential need to perform."

27 pictures from the last 3 years of Solo-Duo Festival

This is the third year when Polish participants competing at the Hungary based Solo-Duo Festival. This is a very hard situation for them. They have to show their knowledge in 5-10 minutes. Because in one day there are a lot of performances, they don`t have enough time for lighting or proper stage design. They can`t use sophisticated props. Costume, music and their own body - that`s all they can use.
It`s also a challenge for the photographer. Usually the performances are quite dark. There isn't enough light to catch the moment or the dancer in the air. The most important what can be captured is the strong presence of the dancer.
In the Eastern-European countries contemporary dance wasn`t a well propagated artform in the last 20 years. This situation is changing fortunately. The Solo-Duo Festival is a very good possibility to show the development, and dancers of different countries can communicate with each other.

25 October 2007 performance of LADJÁNSZKI MÁRTA: SILENT WITNESSES

why am I sad, why do I feel lonely, why am I waiting and why do I still believe?

why am I dancing, why do I make mistakes, why am I suffering and why do I think that all these make my life as performer richer?

why do I like to feel your body, why do I like to taste it, why am I always looking for your eyes?

why is everything so important, why do I dream, and why do I hate this whole situation as it is?

why am I still here, and why do I die?

if there is an end, what the hell makes me afraid of it. why am I not able to accept what happens and how it happens.

why?

direction.(Kastroma_Warsaw).dance Evgeny Kulagin / Ivan Estegneev / 5 - 10 November 2007

5 - 10 November 2007

Evgeny Kulagin and Ivan Estegneev met at the Festival "Open Look" in 2001. After participation in several projects in Saint Petersburg together, they moved to Kostroma and organized school and company Dialogue Dance. The company began its first creative experiments that shaped its repertoire in the fall of 2002.

A dialogue in all possible senses - professional, personal, non-verbal - became the main sense of their work. All the company's performances were created with a sense of a conversation between Evgeny Kulagin and Ivan Estegneev. Moreover, the practice, that each of them lives and experiences separately, including the work in Kostroma Drama Theatre, makes their dialogue more inventive and multifarious in ideas.

Dialogue Dance Company is a permanent creative group who also collaborates with different choreographers and dancers, invites theater designers and directors, photographers and art designers to be a part of the work.
